This is Nanette as Professor
Trelawney and her daughter Hannah as Luna
Lovegood. The next picture is us at the front of the line to get the book, we were the 3rd people to get the book!!!!(due to my masterful ability to move us to the front of the line inconspicuously)

Me and Nanette. The next pic is of Caleb as Draco
Malfoy(we bleached his hair!!!) and Matthew as Ron
Weasley in his dress robes at the yule ball!! I even sewed on dodgy lace to the front of his shirt!!

Caleb as Draco and Ethan as a
Deatheater

This is us playing jeopardy. There was 2 rounds of it with 15 contestants in each round. Caleb got third place in his round and I got third place in my round(there was some little kid who would raise his hand before the question was even finished, so annoying)

Hannah even typed out a quibbler for her to carry around upside down and a necklace out of soda bottle caps and radish earrings!!!

We had a fantastic time, the best part was when another Harry Potter fan said to Nanette "Do you want to have a magical duel with me?" Completely funny, he said it with such a serious straight face!! (it sounded totally like something Napoleon Dynamite would say) We totally swept the costume contest too. We were by far the best dressed and quite a few people asked to take our pictures!!!! It was an awesome night and fun was had by all. We enjoyed Bertie
Botts Every flavor beans, blood pops, jelly slugs and chocolate frogs.
We got home and I read the book straight through the night and all the next day and finished about 2 in the afternoon. The book is amazing and fantastic, but of course I won't give anything away, you will just have to read it!!!!!!
As you all know, I am a huge Harry Potter fan, I mean HUGE! I insist that I get to see the movies on opening day and that I go get the books when they first come out, regardless of the time.
This year is no different. I had a huge temptation to go to the midnight release of the movie but refrained but did go that day with Paul. I went again on Friday with Matthew and Ethan. I have been re-reading the books in prep for the final book and have
re watched the previous movies. I have discussed at great length with my mom, my sister, my good friend Nanette, and anyone who will listen to me, all sorts of theories and thoughts on what is going to happen. I have researched all my favorite Harry Potter sites to get all the info I can to refresh my memory. I literally am in a frenzy for the book to come out. Nanette and her 3 kids are flying out from Idaho to come to the midnight release of the book...and yes, we are dressing up.
I know that I need to act more my age(I just don't FEEL 33) and I seriously can't help it!! I am going as Ginny
Weasley, of course, and Nanette is going as Professor
Trelawney and Matthew is going to be Ron
Weasley(with the help of orange hair dye) Ethan is going to be Harry Potter but is dying to be a death
eater(we will see if I can come up with that costume) Hannah(Nanette's daughter) is going as Luna
Lovegood, and Caleb(Nanette's son) is going as Draco
Malfoy. We have discussed, in great detail, what we are wearing and how we are going to read the book. We have set aside Saturday to start reading the book aloud so that everyone can hear it at once without having to wait for someone else to read it first(and to avoid the all out war that would ensue to see who would get to read it first and in what order). We assume it will take a couple of days to read and plan only to break for church and sleep and going to the bathroom.
I have to admit that I called all the bookstore around here to see what everyone was doing for their midnight release party and have picked the one I think will be the most fun and
Potterish. I know it sounds a bit obsessive, a bit over the top, and maybe a bit fanatical, but can you blame??? Its Harry Potter for crying out loud!!!!

When we moved from Texas I thought that I would never see another one of these...We seemed to be plagued with them at our last house and I was definitely not sad to think I would never have to bother with them here in South Carolina, but low and behold, I found one in my garage. It looks quite different than the kind of green ones we had there but it still gave me a good case of the heebie-geebies. I will be calling the bug people this week!

During the summer it is always a battle to make sure the kids are keeping busy. They have now learned that if they come to me and say that they are bored than they will be assigned chores. They have come up with all sorts of fun. On Monday, Matthew came up with this huge battle the comprised of pieces from his Dragon Crystal Wars sets, his Heroscape game, and figures from the boys' Imaginex sets. He set it up on our air hockey table and is preparing for war. The time and effort was amazing. He spent a good portion of the day getting it just right...

Sometimes the imagination of kids now-a-days blows me away!!!!

The 4th went off with a bang! We went over to our neighbors and we swam for 4 hours then we all went out to the cul-de-sac in front of our house and lit off

a ton of fire works!!! We had 3 of my nephews here for most of the week and we all had a blast. I think everyone went to bed nice and tired that night.

Well, this weekend was dedicated to the tree fort. Paul worked many hours on it and it is coming together. He still wants to put a roof on it. He has a couple of windows and a slit that has flap that covers it to spy out of. He wants to put a zip line off of it. I can't tell who is more excited about it...
paul or the kids!!! We saw lots of stuff we didn't see too much in El
Paso. We saw a frog, an inchworm, lots of gnats and
mosquitoes. We see lizards and squirrels and the kids think it is so cool. I think they forgot what wildlife was like in El
Paso. All we saw was scorpions!!
