Last weekend, Ethan was super sick. He spiked 103* fevers and had a bad cold with an achy head, sore throat, cough and stuffy nose. It lasted 4 days. My good friend Amy asked me several times if we were going to take him in to the doctor and since he wasn't puking and having diarrhea, I decided not to. Well this week her son came down with the exact same thing: high fevers(103), bad cold in his chest etc... She took him in and they tested him for.....the H1N1 flu. On Thursday, I was at her house dropping off her other son who does gymnastics with Ethan and she told me the doctor had called her and let her know that her son's test came back positive for the swine flu. We have known of several reported cases at the school and at the elementary school but apparently, even though he wasn't tested, Ethan probably had the H1N1 flu! I know the teachers are wiping down desks and pretty much everything and keeping the kids hands washed etc but it is definitely here in El Paso and definitely in the schools. I am not freaked out, the big worry was keeping Ethan's fever down and him hydrated but it wasn't as bad as all the hype going on about it. It was almost like any other bad chest cold with high temps but the tylenol/motrin regime worked like a charm to bring down the fevers.
So all you out there, there is a good chance that Ethan had it, survived it, and came through with flying colors. He wasn't ever on his death bed and it lasted 4 solid days but he rested a lot and watched movies alot and I never felt concerned enough to take him in(therefore he was never officially tested).
I actually think he loves telling people that he probably had the swine flu. It sounds dramatic, but at the end of the day, it wasn't a big deal!

The important thing is did he stay out of your hair? When my kids are sick, I want them asleep and out from under my feet. If they are well enough to complain and whine, they are NOT sick enough! I don't care what kind of flu they have! Just kidding! I am glad Ethan is doing better. Any BTW, the watch is gorgeous! Caroline will get it on Fri and I know she is going to FREAK OUT!!! I am already making my list for Justin of what I want for Christmas!
Wow.
I am so sorry you had to deal with that! I am glad that everyone is doing better.
In Carsen's class there was one case a few weeks ago. At the high school there have been about 37 cases. ugh.
Stay healthy!
